MARCH 16, 2017

We began our meeting at 7:15 p.m. with a small prayer and 9 members present. Bill Wolf, our newsletter editor handed out copies of Lory Wolf’s treasurer’s report. Saturday, May 13th has been set as the date for long-time member Lou Calasibetta’s annual get- together at his Old Stillwater Garage in Stillwater, New Jersey. One member presented an item of interest : the Aztek, a mid-size crossover marketed by Pontiac from the 2001 to 2005 model years is now in vogue as a modern day seashore woody. Mary Ann Schwedhelm who along with her director husband Ray manages our chapter store asked for suggestions as to the incorporation of the new POCI logo into our Garden State Chapter logo. Vice-president Greg Pavan who designs our car show dash plaques came up with an idea. We will present our clothing vendor with our thoughts for a new chapter apparel logo. Mary Ann also brought in various fabric samples for our approval as we design a new chapter “dress” sports-style short sleeve shirt. Director John Schwedhelm thought that black would be the best color for our new shirt as black would be most resistant to fading. We voted “yes” to a material similar to our old dress shirt. Mary Ann also reported that we have plenty of inventory in our apparel store. A few more members have opted to receive an e-copy of our Metro News. The Long Island GTO Club and POCI’s Long Island Chapter have scheduled a brunch on Sunday, April 2nd. Lory Wolf, our liaison to Your Own Winery, in Riverdale, New Jersey will come up with a few dates to commence our ever popular wine-making sessions. Our meeting was over at 8:25 p.m.

FEBRUARY 16, 2017

Our February, 2017 meeting opened at 7:10 pm with ten members in attendance. Dianne Lennox read the prayer as father Steve was on a trip to Vermont. Neither Bill nor Lory Wolf were able to attend, so we dispensed with the monthly treasurer’s report. Lory had previously advised us that approximately 35 members had sent in their annual dues, about the same pace as last year, so the dues increase does not seem to have turned anyone away. We discussed the holiday party and the overall consensus was that it was a success. Dianne confirmed that the Masonic Lodge in Clifton had agreed to honor last year’s car show rental payment for 2017, so we will have our 2017 show there on Sunday, October 1. There may still be an opportunity to move the date of the car show to the spring in the future. We discussed possible outings for the Chapter, including winemaking, the Wine Train in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, and an outing to Northlandz (the model train exhibit) in Flemington, New Jersey. The meeting concluded at 8:15 pm.

JANUARY 19, 2017

Eleven members prayerfully began our first meeting of the New Year at 7:05 p.m. Dianne Lennox, our chapter president distributed copies of Lory Wolf’s treasury report. The Masonic Lodge of Clifton will kindly honor our rental payment from our completely rained out October 2016 car show and will put it towards our 2017 show. As such we established Sunday, October 1st as our 2017 car show date and Sunday, October 8th as our show rain date. We will arrange to have a food truck provide lunch and our chapter will serve breakfast goodies.

So far 16 chapter members have indicated that they will attend our “After the Holidays” party scheduled for this Sunday, January 22nd.

New Garden State Chapter membership forms updated for an annual dues increase of $ 3.00 will be printed. Approximately 6 members have chosen to receive “Metro News” via e-mail. We have the option to switch to electronic delivery at anytime. Newsletters sent to POCI will still be in paper form.

Long time member, Lou Calasibetta will again be doing his traditional annual get-together in May. We will be selecting a new design for our “dress” chapter short sleeved shirt. Several members expressed their desire to drive down to the 2017 Atlantic City Auction and Car Show held from February 10th to February 12th. We will consult with Lory Wolf about scheduling another wine making event at Your Own Winery in Riverdale, New Jersey. And we will also consider planning an excursion on The Warren County Winery Train. Our meeting concluded at 7:38 p.m.

DECEMBER 15, 2016

Eleven members began our last meeting of the year with a small prayer at 7:01 p.m. Bill Wolf read the treasurer’s report. At present we have 81 chapter members. . In response to a dues increase proposal in our last newsletter there was overwhelming approval given to raising the annual dues from $ 12.00 to $ 15.00 . A second proposal in Metro News concerned changing our fall car show to a spring show. Most members who responded were in favor of the change. The final decision to move the annual show from its customary early October date to a springtime date will be determined by the availability of a suitable location. As such we must also consider whether the Masonic Lodge in Clifton, New Jersey will grant us a springtime make- up date in 2017. At this time we are awaiting a decision by the Masonic Lodge to allow us to make-up our twice rained out October 2016 show at their location. We discussed our After the Holidays party scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 22nd at 3:00 p.m. at Spuntino Wine Bar and Italian Tapas in Clifton Commons in Clifton, New Jersey. More info about this enjoyable afternoon will be presented to the general membership via e-mail and the next newsletter. It was suggested that we offer members the option of receiving Metro News electronically. The chapter will decide after further investigation. Our next meetings will take place on Thursday, January 19th and Thursday, February 16th. The evening’s meeting was over at 8:11.

NOVEMBER 17, 2016

Our monthly meeting opened at 7:05 pm with 10 members in attendance. Dianne read the prayer being that father Steve was on a trip to sunny Florida. Bill Wolf read the treasurer’s report and with many things to discuss, we got right to it. Number 1 was our dash plaques that were not used, because of our car show rainouts. It would be a shame to basically throw them out. A few ideas are being thrown around for now. We received quite a few responses from the questioner, and it seems there is an overwhelming majority in favor of a dues increase and spring car show. We already have the party date of Jan. 22, but are still looking for the place. We ended our meeting at 8:35.
