President’s Message Sept-Oct

I am very happy to report that Mother Nature decided to grace us with good weather for this year’s car show on October 1, and as a result the show was a great success! We had over 80 entries. Many thanks to all who participated, and congratulations to all of our show winners. As always, special thanks to all the club members who helped in setting up and running our event, and special thanks to all our sponsors, and very special thanks to Mike Weiss for the fantastic article on our show which you will find in this newsletter.

Our new show venue at the Masonic Lodge on Van Houten Avenue in Clifton was well received and we intend to return there for 2018. As with any new location, we need to tweak a few things, but all in all, everything went rather smoothly.

Hard to believe it’s time again to plan for our Chapter’s annual “post-holiday” dinner. As always, we welcome suggestions as to a venue for the dinner. We hope to pick the date and make that selection at our November meeting.

Our Chapter’s next regular meetings will be November 16 and December 21 at The Hearth. Please come and join us.

President’s Message July-Aug

Hard to believe Labor Day is already here. Didn’t we just observe Memorial Day????

Our heartiest congratulations to Chapter member, Martin Hirsch, on receiving the Concours D’Elegance Award at this year’s POCI annual convention for his 1962 Bonneville. What an incredible achievement!!!

Time to buckle down for our Chapter’s car show on October 1 at the Masonic Lodge on Van Houten Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey. We hope to see many of our members, and please, please, please say a prayer, do a no-rain dance, cast a spell – whatever it takes for us to have good weather.

Our next regular Chapter meetings are September 21 and October 19, 2017. The September meeting is particularly important as we will be finalizing details for the car show.

President’s Message May-June

Happy Summer!!

Well, the weather was lousy, but Lou Calasibetta forged ahead and hosted his annual open house at his Old Stillwater Garage on May 13. Many of us went in our daily drivers, and a grand time was had by all!! Dare I say that we may have had more chapter members attend than any time I can remember in the past.

Martin Hirsch, Bill Wolf, John and I also attended the Long Island Chapters of POCI and GTOAA annual car show on June 11 in Bethpage, New York. The weather was sunny and quite warm, and they managed to park around 45 cars in a space that would ordinarily accommodate 25!! It’s always a good time hanging with our LI friends. To add the icing to the cake, Marty’s 1958 Bonneville Convertible took Best in Show!!! Congrats, Marty!!!

The 2017 POCI Annual Convention is coming up in Fort Worth, Texas (July 11-15). Unfortunately, John and I are not able to attend, but a few of our Chapter members and their families are. We hope anyone who does attend would share their comments and pictures when they return.

It’s not too soon to start thinking about the Chapter’s annual car show. Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 1, at the Clifton Masonic Lodge, 476 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey. Fingers (and toes!!) crossed for good weather!!! Please be sure to pass the word around to any Pontiac owners you may know.

Our Chapter’s next regular meetings will be July 20 and August 17 at The Hearth in Clifton.

President’s Message – March – April 2017

Well, Spring has sprung, and it is once again time to throw open those garage doors and hit the highways and byways.

“Car season” is o and running. First on our agenda is Chapter member, Lou Calasibetta’s, annual Open House/Breakfast/Car Show at Old Stillwater Garage on Main Street in Stillwater, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 13. As usual, anyone who wishes to can meet at the Pompton Queen Diner on Route 23 in Pompton Plains (before Route 287) by 7:30 that morning to caravan up to Lou’s. We leave for Lou’s at 7:45.

Be sure to check the “Upcoming Events” in the newsletter and the calendar on our website for car shows, cruise nights and other events. Feel free to contact me or any of the other o cers
and directors if you know of any car shows or cruise nights in your area. Some of the upcom- ing major events: Pypes Open House in Hat eld, Pennsylvania – June 16-17, 2017, and the POCI annual convention in Fort Worth, Texas – July 11-15, 2017. A couple of more local events are the Restored Rusty Relics’ annual show on May 21, 2017 at Bergen Community College in Paramus, and the 41st Annual Motorama Car Show on May 29, 2017 in North Haledon, New Jersey. We will also try to list these events on our website calendar as well.

Next meeting dates are May 18 and June 15 at The Hearth.

President’s Message February 2017

As the saying goes, we are starting to see the “light at the end of the tunnel” of another winter season and our thoughts turn to that other “most wonderful time of the year” – car season!! We would love to have everyone send us any information you get on car shows, cruise nights, or other events to put on our website calendar. Please forward it to our newsletter editor, Bill Wolf, by mail or email it to our website mailbox.

Thanks to all who have sent in their dues for 2017. Reminders will be going out to the procrastinators.

Many thanks as well to all who attended the “After the Holidays” party on January 12 at Spuntino Wine Bar and Tapas. The format was a little di erent, and a jolly good time was had by all. We are always open to new places for our party and welcome your suggestions.

We are pleased to let everyone know that the Masonic Lodge on Van Houten Avenue in Clifton will honor our rental payment from last year, so this year’s car show is oficially scheduled for Sunday, October 1, 2017, with a rain date of Sunday, October 8, 2017. I know we had a lot of discussion about moving the show to earlier in the year, but logistics for 2017 made it more practical to leave it in October.

Next meeting dates are March 16 and April 20 at The Hearth in Clifton.
