The o cial address is 70 Kingsland Road, Clifton, New Jersey, but it is also easily accessible from Route 3. We will be having a price xe menu of $35 per person which is payable to the Chapter the day of the party. A cash bar will also be available.

As always, the New Year reminds us that Chapter dues are due in January. Please note that effective January 1, 2017, the annual Chapter dues are now $15. As you’ll recall, we had asked for feedback regarding an increase, and the Board of Directors voted to go ahead with the increase at our December monthly meeting.

On behalf of our Chapter, I want to wish all our members very Happy Holidays and best wishes for a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!

President’s Message November 2016

President’s Message

Well, as the saying goes, “There’s a first time for everything!” For the first time anyone can remember, our Chapter’s annual car show was rained out on our originally scheduled date of October 2 and our rain date on October 9.

While we know we have no control over the weather regardless of the time of year, a few people have suggested moving our show to earlier in the season, possibly late May or early June. We’d love to hear your thoughts on that. We probably won’t be able to do that for 2017, especially if the Clifton Masonic Lodge lets us use their space since we didn’t this year.

Another consequence of this total cancellation of our show is that it showed just how much revenue we receive to keep the Chapter operating. Fortunately, this year’s sponsorships covered the cost of the trophies, but that’s about it. Together with the creep of increased costs for printing our newsletter and other general expenses, we may be faced with the possibility of having to increase dues. While no one wants to pay more for anything, especially in light of our State Legislature’s jacking the gas tax sky high on us, we’re wondering how many of you would seriously consider ending your membership if we were to increase dues to $15 per year.

Finally on the serious side, we extend our sincere condolences to John Cappelmann, a Chapter member and POCI regional director, on the recent passing of his wife, Anna May. Our thoughts and prayers are with John and his family.

On a much lighter note, we’ve picked Sunday, January 22, 2017, as the date for our “After the Holidays” party. As always, we’d really welcome suggestions as to a location, preferably a BYO. The only real requirements are that it be handicapped accessible and easy parking.

Our next regular Chapter meetings are November 17 and December 15, 2016. Come on out to The Hearth in Clifton to share your thoughts on Chapter business. In the interim, feel free to call any of our officers or directors (phone numbers listed on the back cover) or email me at gtogal@yahoo.com.

President’s Message July-August 2016

Unbelievably Labor Day weekend is here and another car season will be coming to a close.

A good time was had by all of our members who attended the POCI convention in Bettendorf, Iowa this year. A par- ticular highlight was visiting Antique Archeology which was in neighboring Leclaire Iowa, home base for the show “American Pickers.”

Our annual car show is now just around the corner. With the new location our expenses are a lot more than in past years. We could really use everyone’s help in getting as many sponsors as we can. A sponsor form is included in this newsletter.

Also, come on out with your car on Sunday, October 2, at the Masonic Lodge on Van Houten Avenue in Clifton. Save $5 and pre-register by September 23.

Till then, happy motoring!!

President’s Message March – April 2016

As you’ve noticed from the front cover, our annual car show, scheduled for Sunday, October 2, 2016, will be held at the Clifton Masonic Lodge located at 1476 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey, which is easily accessible from Route 80, Route 46, Route 3, and the Parkway.

We were advised at the beginning of the year that the VFW Hall in Franklin Lakes where we have been holding our show is closing, which is why we are moving. We thank their members for all their hospitality in hosting our show the last few years. Unfortunately, this seems to a theme this year as we have learned that a couple of other Chapters in the tristate area also have to relocate their shows.

“Car season” is kicking off and first on our agenda is Chapter member, Lou Calasibetta’s, annual Open House/Breakfast/ Car Show at Old Stillwater Garage on Main Street in Stillwater, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 7. As usual, anyone who wishes to can meet at the Pompton Queen Diner on Route 23 in Pompton Plains (before Route 287) by 7:30 that morning to caravan up to Lou’s. We leave for Lou’s at 7:45.

Be sure to check the “Upcoming Events” in the newsletter and the calendar on our website for car shows, cruise nights and other events. Feel free to contact me or any of the other officers and directors if you know of any car shows or cruise nights in your area. Some of the upcoming major events: Pypes Open House in Hatfield, Pennsylvania – June 17-18, 2016, and the POCI annual convention in Bettendorf, Iowa – July 12-16, 2016.

Next meeting dates are May 19 and June 16 at The Hearth.

President’s Message February 2016

Well, we’ve almost made to the end of another winter and none too soon. Fortunately, it seems that this winter hasn’t been quite as bad as the last few. Of course, a blizzard dumping 2 feet of snow is never fun!!

Many thanks to all who have sent in their dues for 2016. Reminders will be going out to the procrastinators.

Also, many thanks to all who attended the “After the Holidays” party on January 17. A good time was had by all, and we even got a little snow to set the mood which fortunately did not stick to the roads.

If you haven’t checked it out already, be sure to look at the Chapter’s updated website. We are hoping to be able to provide more current information via the website on a regular basis, and we welcome submissions from all our members. Please feel free to call or e-mail with events that may be of interest to our members, especially local car shows and cruise nights.

Coming soon as well will be an order form for Chapter hoodies.

Next meeting dates are March 17 (be sure to wear your green!!!) and April 21 at The Hearth in Clifton.

Unfortunately, I have to end this message on a very somber note. Our deepest condolences to Vice President, Greg Pavan, and his family on the most untimely passing of his wife, Lucy. Please keep Greg and his daughters in your thoughts and prayers.
