September 2015

SEPTEMBER 24, 2015 – At 7:17 p.m. eleven members prayerfully began our meeting. Our first topic of conversation was the upcoming chapter car show.As of this meeting we have 12 pre-registered car entrants. It was mentioned that White Post Restorations of Virginia contributed 100 nifty White Post Seventy-fifth Anniversary pens and also advertising inserts for our show goody bags. They also sent us a voucher to be applied to brake work done at White Post.We decided to present the Best of Show winner with this handy prize. We agreed that our green or new blue T-shirt would be the “uniform of the day” for all club members who work the show. Extra flyers advertising the show were made up. We obtained our certificate of show insurance. Our new show dash plaque featuring a ‘53 Pontiac and given to each entrant was passed around. It was met with tremendous approval. Our inimitable D.J. , John Lennox has been developing a nice mix of tunes to entertain everyone at the show. We are anxious to try out our recently purchased software designed for show ballot tabulation “under fire” . However as a backup we will be prepared to count the ballots manually. We briefly discussed having a Pontiac-powered car class at future shows.

Style ideas and prices for a new blue Garden State Chapter hooded sweatshirt wetre presented. We also talked about new car show trophy designs. We are continuing the process of revamping our club website. We set our next two meeting dates as : Thursday, October 15th and Thursday, November 19th. Our meeting was over a few minutes after 8:00 p.m.

OCTOBER 15, 2015 – Eleven members began our meeting with a small prayer at 7:00 p.m. Lory Wolf, our treasurer, submitted her report with emphasis on our October 11th (rain date) car show. There were 73 Pontiacs and GMC’s at the show. Our chapter membership now stands at 72 with one new member joining during the show. Mary Ann Schwedhelm read her report on chapter items sold at the show. We will have to order more T-shirts. In fact members of the Nutmeg Chapter (Connecticut) approved of our new blue T-shirts and classic rally style short sleeve shirts so much that they would like to order theirs from our vendor. Our car show ballot counting software worked superbly and streamlined a once tedious task. A few members once again proposed starting a new car show class composed of Pontiac-powered vehicles. We also talked about various car show trophy designs, in particular one involving attaching a dash plaque to the trophy. We will be sending the long-distance award to its winner who hails from Connecticut and had to leave the show prior to the awards ceremony.

Several members expressed their desire for having a blue hooded sweatshirt with a zipper made up. This new item sounds like a good idea considering that cold weather is in the offing. We are considering joining up with the Nutmeg and Long Island Chapters for a future cruise to the Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, New York. Another possibility is a cruise up to Cold Spring also in New York State. A proposal was made to schedule another series of wine making sessions next spingtime. Crafting a nice red then would permit our vintage to age in time for its enjoyment during the holidays. It is time once again to consider the date and location of our annual After-the Holidays party in January, 2016. Dates proposed were Sunday, January 17th and Sunday, January 24th. A few restaurants were suggested and several of us agreed that it should be a B.Y.O.B. The next meeting dates were announced : Thursday, November 19th and Thursday, December 17th. Our meeting concluded at 8:10 p.m.
