November 19 2020

November’s meeting was more of a
social event, given that we had not seen each other in person since
February!! We did review our car show results. Otherwise, we
commiserated about the COVID situation.

October 15, 2020

We began our meeting at 7:00 p.m.
with 10 members in attendance. Our invocation was read by
chapter chaplain Steve Sanguino. Lory Wolf our chapter treasurer read her report. Our membership currently stands at 87.Ninety-one beloved classics were at our Sunday October 4th car show. This is our show record. And of this total there were 20 pre-registered entrants. Board member Steve Kiellar
related that many people thoroughly enjoyed the show. We
were grateful to have members of the Long Island Chapter
of POCI drive out to join us. We discussed what went well at
the show and also where we could use some improvement.
Elaine Silvestri who along with her husband Ed is in charge
of our chapter store reported that sales of club merchandise
were brisk. Elaine attributed this to her tables being set up in
a separate area under a large tent due to Coronavirus prevention precautions. Many were drawn to our chapter store
display counters which were expertly staffed by Elaine and
Lory. We decided to include our chapter website and Facebook page information on next year’s car show flyer. It was
also suggested that in the future we assign additional chapter
members to process the many ballots submitted from the car
judging part of our shows. Bill Wolf our newsletter editor informed us that show photos would appear in the next issues
of Metro News. Inspired by the success of this year’s show
we have already reserved the Masonic Lodge of Clifton for
our 2021 show to be held on Sunday October 3rd. We discussed the restocking of apparel in our chapter store – it was
thought best to place a small order soon and then another
next summer in preparation for the 2021 show. Meanwhile we
will check with our vendor on the availability of the popular
Garden State Chapter, POCI blue denim long sleeve shirt. We
will also have more chapter membership applications printed
up. We decided not to plan our annual January “After-theHolidays” party because of the Coronavirus epidemic and
the current restrictions placed on indoor dining. Our next
meetings are scheduled for Thursday November 19th and
Thursday December 17th. The meeting was over at 8:24 p.m.

September 17, 2020

Our first in person meeting since
last February began at 6:59 p.m. with 13 members present.
Chapter chaplain Steve Sanguino read our invocation. Lory
Wolf presented her treasurer’s report. We now have a total
of 84 members. It was announced that Gianna Pavan daughter
of chapter vice-president Greg Pavan will be our new webmaster. Greg passed around an image of our October car show
dash plaque. Everyone expressed approval of this year’s design.
Greg will have the plaques ready for inclusion in our car show
goody bags prior to show day. Board member Steve Kiellar has
ordered trophies for the show. In addition Steve will have car
judging ballots and car window cards printed up for show day.
John Lennox also a board member mentioned that Ames Performance Engineering sent him several sizable boxes of promotional items for our goody bags. We spoke about the lack of
opportunities for chapter members to distribute car show flyers as brought about by Coronavirus epidemic restrictions on
car events. So far the city of Clifton, New Jersey has given us a
“green light” for holding our show at the Masonic Lodge. The
Lodge has indicated that their building is unfortunately off-limits to everyone except those using their restrooms. The Lodge
requested that we help to sanitize the premises after the show.
We decided to allow show entrants who remain close to their
classics on the show field to have the option of wearing masks.
We will be asking everyone to don a mask at all other times
and to respect social distancing protocols. Greg will be making up some Pontiac logo face masks for show day. In keeping
with tradition we will be having a 50/50 raffle at the show and
door prizes will be awarded. Those chapter members working the show are asked to attend a pre-show on site planning
session the day before – Saturday October 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
Our Chapter President Dianne Lennox requested that those
members setting up the show arrive at the Masonic Lodge between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. Our meeting concluded at 7:58 p.m.

April 18, 2019

Our meeting began at 6:45 p.m. as chapter chaplain Steve Sanguino presented our invocation to 12 members. Lory Wolf went over her treasurer’s report and indicated that the chapter has 85 members. She also submitted our annual report to POCI. New Garden State Chapter membership rosters were handed out. Once again we will be having a chapter picnic at Silas Condict County Park in Kinnelon, New Jersey. It is scheduled for Sunday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. rain or shine. Lory was kind enough to obtain the necessary permits. We decided that all picnickers tote their own food and drink. Ed and Elaine Silvestri graciously offered to supply the charcoal. Lory will draw up a picnic flyer for our Facebook page as well as for e-mail distribution. Beloved member Lou Calasibetta will host his ever-popular annual open house on Saturday, May 11th at his Old Stillwater Garage in Stillwater, New Jersey. Dianne Lennox our chapter President will announce Lou’s get-together in an e-mail to all. The Masonic Lodge in Clifton, New Jersey has been secured as the location of our Sunday, October 6th car show. Some confusion brought about by double booking on the part of the Lodge was resolved and we are good to go ! The food truck and DJ who served our shows in the recent past will be on hand to nourish and entertain. We talked about making changes to this year’s car show flyer – mostly as concerns car classes. Also since we have been plagued by incomplete ballots at prior car shows, we agreed to encourage all show entrants to vote their entire ballot. Chapter director Steve Kiellar led a discussion about chapter plans for the 47th Annual POCI Convention in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in July. Emphasis was placed upon our chapter display. Mary Ann Schwedhelm manager of our club store mentioned that we are in need of our signature T-shirts. She will purchase more chapter T’s in an assortment of sizes to satisfy the minimum order of 12 shirts required by our apparel vendor. Our meeting ended at 8:15 p.m.
